The Right Way To Ride A Motorcycle

By Amanda Gamdana

Motorcycle riding is a breezy experience. It is mandatory that you know exactly how your machine functions. While there are many quick learners of the process, some struggle hard to grasp the information. In the final analysis, it depends on how much you believe in yourself and want to learn the relevant skills.

Your learning motorcycle would play a vital role on your subsequent mastery of the operation, so it is important that you choose the motorcycle carefully. Since most people get their first lessons on motorcycling in another persons' bike, this could be a bit of a knotty situation. However, just ensure that the bike has the right weight and both your feet can touch the ground. Touching the gas, brakes and handles are important features to be looked into and it is not a bad idea to first try with a second-hand bike which is suited to you. You can always go for a more expensive bike once you are absolutely sure that you can ride well.

As a student you would get unnecessarily nervous if your coach is not so much concerned about your progress as he is for the possible damage which you might cause to his bike. If you are unable to get hold of a good trainer for your riding lessons, then you are simply wasting a lot of time. In this case it is better to get help from a professional course and take lessons from a trained coach.

To perfect your riding skills, continue to practice, just like driving any other vehicle, after you are thorough with your basics. It is not a very prudent decision to go for rides in the main streets and interstate highways till you have mastered the art of riding. Tactics like changing lanes, tacking bends and curves, making sudden brakes are real life skills needed before you reach the main road.

No one ever teaches you the practical aspects of driving on varying weather conditions and you would have to practice this yourself. It is amazing to see your bike behaving during a sunny day and a wet day. You turn out to be a master rider when you are ready to face any situation on the road or any type of weather. With time, you become a better rider and would eventually take your bike out for long trips or perhaps even win awards in annual rallies.

Avoid getting too much carried away by your bike but practice your skills hard and only then can the riding experience be nice and happy. Too many beginners want a new motorcycle or the same power as their friends. These bikes eventually become too big for handling or they land up getting injured. This could mean that you get fed up with the learning and eventually sell off the bike.

You could make your learning experience an unforgettable episode of your life, if you do not rush through the program in a hurry to hit the highways. Remember that it is only practice which can make you the master of the art of riding and learn from all the mistakes you make in the process. Riding a bike can be thrilling and challenging provided you practice hard and keep the safety aspects in mind. - 30329
