Tips on Buying Harley Davidson Exhaust Pipes

By Jack Hammer

Most new Harley Davidson owners will find themselves afflicted with a disease right after buying their new Harley Davidson. That disease is the need to modify their new motorcycle and it has no cure. Typically the first modification that a new HD owner might make is to replace the stock Harley exhaust system.

Modifying the stock Harley exhaust system will accomplish a couple of different things, all of which are good. An aftermarket harley exhaust will dramatically improve the power of the motorcycle and will definitely make it sound better compared to stock. These motorcycles are not meant to be powerhouses, but an aftermarket set of pipes will improve the torque enough that it will reduce the downshifting and make two up riding a joy.

If you are thinking about this modification then you might be overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices out there in the harley exhaust system world. It seems that every company markets their pipe as the end all be all of Harley exhaust pipes. It can be quite confusing when searching for the right exhaust. Below are a few of our own favorites.

Vance and Hines Harley Exhaust - Vance and Hines is a company that has its roots in the performance world but they have become one of the premier Harley exhaust manufacturers on the planet. Vance and Hines Big Shots are one of the most widely used pipes ever and for one reason, they're awesome!

Bub Harley Exhaust Pipes - Bub exhaust systems have developed a very loyal user base over the years and many Bub Harley exhaust owners report that they would buy them again. Quality chrome with a deep finish and an excellent exhaust note make Bub Harley exhaust a great choice.

Samson Harley Exhaust - Samson harley pipes are a take no prisoner kind of pipe. They aren't meant for the faint of heart and are built for one thing, to make power. They tend to be on the loud side for my taste but many owners WANT a loud pipe, making these a perfect choice.

Rinehart Harley Exhaust - Rinehart bases its technology on Nascar pipe designs so you know they are all about making power. Rinehart Harley pipes have their own distinct sound and you they are beloved by Harley owners around the country.

Now these aren't the only pipes available for your Harley but they are definitely companies that I would feel great about recommending to a first time Harley exhaust pipe buyer. The next step before you buy would be to check out a quality review site to see what owners of each have to say about their pipes.

A few of the questions you should be looking to answer include how the pipes sound? How they fit the motorcycle, what they look like after they turn hot, does the bike run nice with them etc. All of these should factor into making your decision. - 30329
